Drawing in Fashion, an exhibition created out of a shared passion for the teaching and practice of drawing, presents a selection of work from students, alumni, faculty and invited guests who – in distinctly different ways – draw for fashion.
An increase in books published on the history of fashion illustration in the last ten years reflects a current fascination with drawing in the fashion world. Contemporary work appears in many forms including: drawn illustrations in magazines, packaging design, wall-based installations in shops, and live drawing at fashion shows. It is clear that images rooted in the hand-drawn are desired.
This is a unique opportunity to see emerging talent in fashion illustration and the drawings of respected artists and designers who work in the industry. From traditional drawing and painting to advances in digital illustration this exhibition showcases the richness and diversity of this relatively small, but exciting field of work.
